5-Methyl-7-methoxyisoflavone has shown to have the ability to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by blocking b-raf, a protein that is involved in the regulation of cellular proliferation and differentiation. 5-Methyl 7-methoxyisoflavone also has been shown to reduce the production of epidermal growth factor (EGF) and to have weak anti-inflammatory activities. This compound has also been found to be effective against neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.
